Leadership Honors Bootcamp for Undergraduate Students of Human Sciences

May 21 - 26, 2005, Washington, D.C.

Based on a successful pilot last year, we will again be offering an intense leadership development program to ensure that select high achieving graduates in human sciences programs have the skills to lead our field in the future. 

Leadership Honors Bootcamp for Students of Human Sciences, developed as a collaborative effort of Kansas State University, Dr. Carol Kellett and Dr. Virginia Moxley; The University of Georgia, Dr. Sharon Nickols; Northern Illinois University, Dr. Mary Pritchard; and East Carolina University, Dr. Karla Hughes and Dr. Margie Lee Gallagher, is a proactive step towards giving students a critically important advantage in a highly competitive world.

Program Description

Leadership Honors Bootcamp is an intensive program for university students that will give them the skills needed to lead others effectively.  Program participants will gain rich new insights into leadership theories and group behavior. They also will acquire the capabilities and confidence to lead in a variety of challenging group or team situations. 

Program Participants

Administrators of Human Sciences programs will select two or more students from their respective institutions to participate in Leadership Honors Bootcamp. Complete and return the Confirmation of Participation form in the attached document by February 1, 2005 identifying the number of students you are sponsoring from your institution.

Those participating in 2004 were East Carolina University, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Northern Illinois University, South Dakota State University, The University of Georgia, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Applications (also found in the attached document) for each student to enroll in the program are due March 1, 2005.

Program Details

The tuition for each participant is $2,525. Tuition includes instruction and program materials, carefully selected accommodations, one to two meals per day and group medical and emergency health coverage for the duration of the program.
