Family Studies Professional

What does a family studies professional do?

People who work in family studies teach others to live happier lives by creating stronger, healthier families. There are a lot of different jobs that family studies professionals can do. They might teach adults about things they didn't have a chance to learn in school, or how to be better parents, or how to find a better job. They might also help families who are having trouble by teaching them to get along with each other better, or help kids who are in trouble to find activities that will make them happy and keep them safe.

Preparing for the job

To become a family studies professional, you must graduate from high school and from college. For some jobs, you will also have to go to graduate school. You will have to learn many things about how people think, how people and families learn and grow, and how parents get along with each other and their children. You may also study government, and how new laws can affect our families.

The future

People who choose a career in family studies will be able to find many jobs in government, education, community agencies, and heath care. Family studies classes will also help people who want to become family lawyers, pediatricians, or psychiatrists.
